Like many successful companies, Finite started with an idea of how to do something better. Founded by Managing Director Tracy Thomson in 1998, the company was born from a desire to offer recruitment expertise and IT jobs on a specialist basis to information technology jobseekers and employers.
By 2000, Finite was already a preferred supplier to the NSW Government and winning major business with financial services employers. Business has consistently grown year-on-year since then, even in challenging economic conditions.
Spotting further gaps in the market, Finite launched a professional services company, FinXL IT, in 2003 and a dedicated executive recruitment division, FinXEC IT Executive Recruitment in 2006. Along the way, Finite has selectively acquired boutique IT recruitment firms with complementary services. Finite was also the launch partner for the iProfile CV tool into the Australian market.
‘Australia’s favourite large IT recruiter’ and other awards
Tracy’s drive and tenacity and Finite’s successful IT recruitment model, was recognised in 2007 when she won the national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in the business services category.
Other awards have followed including the employee-voted BRW magazine’s ’50 Best Places to Work’ Survey in 2009, 2010 and 2011, and the prestigious REA Deloitte Recruitment Excellence Award for Best Business Management in October 2010. In something of a ‘nutshell’ statement, SEEK named Finite as “Australia’s favourite large IT Recruiter” in 2010. We are especially proud of this, as both jobseekers and employers voted for the award.
Nothing thrills the Finite team more than connecting people. In a fast and fluid world, our core mission is to unite people with opportunities, candidates with careers, and clients with quality personnel. We work very hard to get it right. And it is this that will see the Finite story march on for many years to come.
